Are there any Food and Beverage minimums?

Club members are not required to spend any particular amount of money within the Club. Food and Beverage charges are incurred on a consumption basis and billed to the member monthly. Tax and Service Charges are added to all food and beverage bills. A complimentary Continental Breakfast is available to members each morning, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. There is a nominal fee for guests at breakfast. The Club serves lunch Monday through Friday and dinner Monday through Saturday. Private rooms are available for the entertaining needs of Club members and guests at any time on a prearranged basis. Space is available for groups as small as 2 or as large as 200 people.

Is the Club’s membership diverse?

Our Club has the reputation of being an inclusive Club open to individuals of all backgrounds. Our membership is split evenly between Ohio and Kentucky residents, and is equally split between those who work on either side of the Ohio River. Approximately 15% of our memberships belong to women. Many racial and ethnic groups are represented on our roster. Our Board of Governors has a subcommittee focused on attracting candidates from minority groups within our community. There are two committees, a Women’s Advisory Committee and a Junior (members under the age of 40) Advisory Committee, focused on attracting new members and enhancing the value of Club membership for people of those descriptions.

How can I join if I don’t know of anyone who is a member?

Since our membership is so diverse it is entirely possible that you do know someone who is a Club member. Our Membership Director will work with you to help identify an individual who can sponsor your membership. Someone from our Membership Committee would also make him/herself available to meet with you and discuss your application. Although our membership roster is not distributed for public perusal we may be able to help identify potential sponsors through corporate or organizational connections and involvement.

How many members does the Club have?

The number of members fluctuates regularly with new members joining monthly and members canceling due to corporate changes, relocations, lifestyle changes, and personal or social economic issues, etc. The number of memberships available is determined by the members’ use of the Club facility. A regular assessment of activity is made to assure that Club members wanting to use the Club are able to do so without delays or having to make plans too far in advance.

What is the dress code?

Members use the Club for both business and social purposes during the day and in the evenings. It is not uncommon to see both gentlemen and ladies in business suits, however, the dress code is business casual throughout the Club. Jackets and ties are optional at all times. Denim, shorts, athletic wear, sneakers, flip flops and t-shirts are not permitted in the Club.  Some events will specify "Denim allowed" but will be at Management's discretion

Is the Club easy to find?

This facility is designed to provide convenient workout facilities to tenants within the office complex. Information about the facility is available through our membership office or by calling the health club facility directly at 859-491-8122.

Who owns the Metropolitan Club?

There are private investors who have backed the Club but the majority of the profits from Club operations circulate back into the community through the Club’s relationships with three Non-profit, charitable organizations: the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, The Northern Kentucky Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, and Be Concerned. Each year equal distributions are made to these three organizations from the profits available from Club operations. As a Club member or member guest you can be proud to know that while paying market price for goods and services you are doing something good for the community.

Does the Club have overnight accommodations?

While the Club does not offer guest rooms, we are very conveniently located next door to two quality hotels: The Embassy Suites Cincinnati RiverCenter (tel. 859-261-8400) and The Cincinnati Marriott at RiverCenter (Tel 859-261-0900), both located on RiverCenter Boulevard in Covington, Kentucky.

What is the Annual Metropolitan Award Dinner I have heard about?

Each year the Club hosts a dinner to present a community service award to an outstanding member of the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky community. The award is known as the Metropolitan Award and was founded by the Club’s Board of Governors and first presented in 1995. This dinner also acts as a fundraising event for a local charity.

Does the Club have any social events for members?

The Club management, with the help and guidance of the Club’s Program Committee, arranges special events for Club members throughout the year and promotes them through the monthly newsletter. Holiday events, family events, special food celebrations, Wine Tastings, Dinner/Theatre packages and trips to Keeneland Racetrack each year are just some of the many things happening at the Club at any given time. Club members are also invited to a number of cocktail parties each year offering numerous opportunities to network and socialize. The Club’s Junior Advisory and Women’s Advisory Committees also host several complimentary receptions each year.
